Holy Smokes it's been a while

So I'm dusting off the ol blogspot and getting ready to begin the 2009 training for the next triathlon! The Danskin Tri in Seattle, Wa. was awesome! My experience training with the Kitsap Tri-babes was phenomenal. This year I will be taking a few friends with me to the tri-babes and hopefully on to the Danskin again.
I completed the Danskin beating my time from 2007 by 30 minutes. I improved on my swim, bike and barely on my run. My focus for 2009 will be running a little faster and extending my endurance.
I am toying with the idea of going to Utah to complete another sprint triathlon with my cousin Ruby. We'll see how much air fare is and if Justin's willing to stay home with the kids while I go to Utah. Cross your fingers.
Sooooo here we go again. To my fellow tri-babes .... grab your big girl panties and LET'S ROCK AND ROLL.

The Wetsuit Is Here!

So I ordered a wetsuit from ProMotion. There's a place in Hood River, OR that makes wetsuits and tailors them to your specs. It's pricey but the advantage of having a Trithlon wetsuit tailored to you gives you incredible bouyancy in the water and more freedom of movement. It'll last you forever! ProMotion also makes sizes up to 18. But their sizes run a little large so order in a size down when doing so. Oh and by the way only get a Triathlon wetsuit for doing TRI's because other wetsuits aren't designed for it and won't allow you freedom of arm movement etc. and could endanger you.
Before mine came in the mail I got a call from the ProMotion guy who took my measurements and suggested a size. I've since put on the wetsuit and am sending it back to get the legs shortened and arms too. This was the last full length in my size and he gave me a great discount for it. I bought it off the rack and it wasn't specially made for me so that's why it has to be tailored now. But I am so excited because when the finished product comes back I can go swimming in the lake even though it's COLD.
There are tips out there for swimming in cold water. Ear plugs and a swim cap to keep heat from escaping. And never go alone! So if you are game give me a call!

Ouch my back hurts!

Hi Everyone, I've been out of commission for the past couple of weeks due to illness. I am ready to hit the pool. I am limited as to what I can do because of my back so I'll be unable to run until it's fully healed. The weather is starting to warm and everytime it's sunny (like today) I just want to get out and run around the lake. Justin is going to pull my bike down from the garage. I see cobwebs and dust collecting as I haven't rode it for a few months now.
I hope your training is going alot better than mine at this point.

Info on the bottom of the screen

Hey Guys, there is some great Triathlon info for beginners at the bottom of the blog page. It'll give you tips on all events. I am currently trying to acquire a wetsuit (specifically for swimming) and some plus size biking/running gear (Junonia, ProMotion, Danskin). These are big purchases and I wouldn't recommend buying until you are SURE you want to Tri and Tri again every year.
I also found out what that deoderant looking stuff was that the ladies were rubbing all over themselves at the triathlon.....IT'S ANTICHAFFING stuff! Holy smokes did I have a bad chaffing rash from the bike on my last tri. I couldn't walk straight for a week! So if you're interested it's called BODYGLIDE. You can find it in most sporting stores.
This year I've decided to do the Danskin Triathlon in Seattle. It's an all women event benefitting Breast Cancer research. I spoke with one of last year's participants and from the sounds of it IT'S AWESOME. If you would like to do this Tri with me then be aware that registration fills up fast. Once registration opens up you it will be filled up that day or the next because lots of women like to do this one. There's a link at the bottom of this page. Be aware also that this Tri is on a Sunday.
I haven't gone into an official gym to workout BUT I have been more active with the kids and dog. I've been going on more walks and playing more outside and doing yard work. It's a step up for me. I'm slowly getting back into the active lifestyle again. By next week I should be ready for our mini tri.
